EDITING….

  1. I’m on my first real editing round, and I feel like I’m always going to want to change something, which Is why I hate revising because I damn near wanna change the story

Thank you, Claire, for the reblog! Editing can be exasperating. I finally finished going over the last few chapters and put in a couple more things then onto my beta readers. I feel the end is getting near now. Sigh! Good luck everyone! It is always difficult to proof your own work.

I am a copy editor and proof and edit others’ work without a glitch. It doesn’t bother me to change, delete, correct and suggest to others to change up something in their MS. But to do that to your own MS it is like cutting your heart out! Sigh! ?

  3. I feel the same way, Janice. It makes me crazy and I never feel like I”m done. It might be because I look at it so much that I can’t see things anymore. It reminds me of the “Nose blind” commercial in TV. Yikes

  5. There is no easy way, is there? Self-editing is so hard.I find I can only do it by rotating manuscripts to avoid getting stale, but even so, it’s still arduous. Frequent breaks, chocolate treats also work! Best of luck!

    • Have you ever tried book view in Microsoft Office…I find lots of mistakes that way. I also use the free version of Grammarly when i can get online 🙂

      • I use word but will investigate Grammarly. Many thanks for this. Charlie

      • Welcome Charlie. All the editing apps have good and bad points. I have at least four of them on my computer…and they all say different things. Grammarly does get things wrong, though it also helps you understand and correct yoru writing.
