Christian #Awethor Ann Harrison
Let me introduce you to the lovely #Awethor Ann Harrison who loves to write and is one of the #Awethors participating in NaNoWriMo this year. Her story in Awethology Light is called ‘The Big Climb.’
My name is Ann Harrison, I am a devout Christian, I am a divorced mom of a beautiful 7-year-old daughter, I love music, and I love to write. This is my second year participating in NaNoWriMo, which stands for National Novel Writing Month, which takes place throughout the entire month of November, for those of you who are unfamiliar with this challenge. In 2014, my winning novel was called The Apple Wheel, and the novel I have chosen to write for the 2015 challenge, coming up in about two weeks, is entitled Epiphany High. I am also working on a Christian suspense novel entitled A Journey of Faith, and a self-help book about the healing power of music.
What brought you to the world of writing?
I started writing a little here and there when I was in high school, but I didn’t really take it seriously until I read New Stories from the South for 2001, where Lee Smith talks about teaching a young girl how to write a short story. From that day ten years or so ago, I let my creative juices flow.
What story have you entered into the Awethology and Why?
I entered a story called The Big Climb, because I wrote this story a few years ago, inspired by several books I’d read about mountain climbing, and I wanted to tweek it and turn mountain climbing into a fictionalized adventure.
What type of books do you write and do they fulfill your reader’s needs?
I write Christian mysteries, or Christian suspense novels as I call them, and although I haven’t gotten A Journey of Faith published yet, I pray that my books will not only entertain, but spred the message of God’s love and bring readers closer to Jesus. I’m also writing a book about the Healing power of music, so keep an eye out for these and other great books in the future.
Tell us about your short story?
The Big Climb is a story about a girl who faces her fear of climbing, after falling off a smaller rock face near Adventure Mountain. When climbing the rock, she finds herself dangling from her climbing rope, and from that day on she vows never to climb again. Can her friend convince her that climbing is safe? Can she conquer her fear of heights and climbing altogether?
What was your experience with #Awethors group and the Awethology?
I loved working with the #authors group, I was able to meet and connect with like minded writers like myself. I thought the Authology was a fun place to publish my short story, because it not only gets my writing out there, but it gives me experience working on a team, and getting feedback from other writers and readers when I need it, to make my writing the best it can be. I strongly encourage other authors who are just getting started to either join the #authors, or any other local writers group of their choosing.
How do you promote your writing?
I post links to my books, and give little samples of my writing on facebook, twitter, and my blog.
