Meet #Awethor Karen J Mossman
Proud to introduce Karen J Mossman #Awethor. Karen is another fab author who participate in the #Awethors group on Facebook. You can find her story in Awethology Dark.
I am married with 2 children, both born on the same day 2 years apart. They are grown up now and I have an adorable grandson. I come from a family of journalists, but no one was into writing fiction. So writing must be in my genes. I presently live in Manchester, but next year we are moving to Wales.
What bought you to the world of writing?
I’ve been writing for as long as I can remember, so nothing actually brought me in. My writing has evolved from writing for me, writing for pleasure and then writing for publication.
What story have you entered into the Awethology and Why?
It’s a mystery/suspense story and has dark undertones. My main character has a ‘gift’, although she thinks it is more of a curse. I always like this story, so I improved it and put it forward for inclusion.
What type of books do you write and do they fulfill your reader’s needs?
I write romance/suspense novels. I’m still building a brand. My first one came out and my second is due out and I realised they had something in common, so hopefully the more I write of them, I will eventually get a following.
Tell us about your short story?
It is called Down by the River and was inspired by Richard Marx’s song Hazard. I saw the video, which was a story in itself. So I pulled the mood of it and used it as a background. I created some characters, a back story and included the river where he last saw Mary. Now I can’t listen to that song without thinking of my story instead.
What was your experience with #Awethors group and the Awethology?
All very positive. They are such a nice bunch of people. Everyone is so helpful. I would not be doing what I doing today without their help and guidance. It’s great to be involved in something like this.
How do you promote your writing?
I’ve only promoted one novel. I opened a group for the week of the launch of my book. I enlisted several bloggers to feature me, which meant I had to write something different for each one. I also enlisted the help of people who would tweet, and post on social sites to bring readers to those blogs. It was great fun. As Christmas is approaching, I’m hoping I can get out and sell books at local events.
Where can we buy your books?
On Amazon, Smashwords and its Kobo, iTunes and nook as well.
Who are your favourite authors?
Norah Roberts, Kathy Reichs, Tess Gerretsen, are just a few of them.

I can tell you that Karen is still writing…though I’ll let her tell you…her own news… 🙂 and where she is five years on.
