Happy New Year to all our followers and friends. It has been a wow of a year with many of us working from home. The toll on the human race is still growing though with vaccines, perhaps we can beat this virus and the many strains. Please be safe and take care of each other so we can grow and help each other. We are lucky to be based in New Zealand, where though we are on level one, our lives are closer to normal than it is for many other countries around the world. Be careful out there.

Thank you for continuing to be with us over 2020 and on into 2012. We look forward to sharing your work, books, interviews, educational articles and helping out clients – past, present and future. Let’s get those manuscripts built into books and uploaded to distribution platforms.

We have a great team here at Plaisted Publishing, our contractor list just keeps growing. If you know a small business contractor who works in Editing, Graphic Design or Marketing, please contact us. We’d love to help you help our clients and grow each others businesses. 

This year we will be introducing you to our contractors, each with their own expertise in a certain area of publishing. You will get to know them and what they can do for you if you are planning to publish a book. We do Interior Book Design in house and have over six years experience in Fiction, Non-fiction, Anthologies, Memoirs, Poetry, Children’s Picture Books and Family History Books/Family Reunion Books.

We also off help with Family History Research and have twenty years experience gathering information for various books we’ve made over the years for reunions and birthday celebrations. We are also looking for Content Writers within the publishing world. If you write educational material for Independent Authors, please contact us, we’d be delighted to hear from you. It is important for us all to continue to learn and grow in the publishing world with the ever changing technology we use.

We will also be opening a page to favourite weblinks for educational purposes. If you know of a great website please email us the link and we’ll check it out prior to posting the link on the page.

At present we are updating out website. We will have a library of all the books we’ve assisted with over the last six years along with a list of Author Names. Eventually we hope to also add a profile of each author as well and send those links out to each client so they can share and celebrate each others work.

Our magazine has been on hold for the just over two years now. We hope to re-establish the magazine with a new title, new and easier layout with less formatting work involved. We hope this magazine will be every two months. Here is hoping all this scheduling will work. By the end of this year, we may need a PA…

Three words: I love it! I look forward to reading The Writers Grapevine every month, in fact, I read June’s issue the day after it was posted. Patty adds a special touch to the magazine that I’ve never seen done before. She introduces the next act on the playbill and comments to each piece afterwards. It’s as if she’s sitting beside me and we’re chatting. This makes me smile! The same holds true for the contributor letters. It’s as if the writers are talking directly to the readers. It gives a warm and personal touch.

On a scale of 1-10, I give The writers Grapevine an 8.

Plaisted Publishing House produces a FREE Marketing Magazine for Indie Authors and those who support them – aka Editors, Graphic Designers, Illustrators, Marketers etc.  This magazine celebrated it’s second year in Feb 2018.  We have 526 members in the GROUP

We have 370 signed up to receive and share this magazine which widened the social media marketing for all participants. The problem is…Group Members are not participating enough to put out a monthly magazine. Yes I have my regulars though it would be lovely to see more group members join in.  If this doesn’t happen the magazine will dwingle until is it no more. I can’t push much harder than I already am. I have other work to do as well.  As an author we all belong to groups where we can share links to this magazine, we can encourage other authors to join the group and sign up for the magazine. Business Reflections of 2016

Reflections of the past twelve months. What have we done. The highs and lows. The requests and even the chat.  

I have met some amazing people over the last twelve months. Many who have helped to improve my love of learning, friendship, sisterhood and much more. With business growing I find it is now time to thank everyone who had helped make this a great year. Thank you for your comments, chat, shares, reblogs and support. Without you I would not be where I am today.  A fine spot with more highs than lows. THANK YOU

Clients of 2016

We have assisted EIGHT AUTHORS with NINE books – ebook and print.  We have also assisted these authors along with another FOUR to learn the ropes of Publishing.  Some wish to do as much as they can, others like assistance each time.  Some of these authors have several more works to be published and we are looking forward to working with them again. We have also worked with twenty-five authors for our Anthology…More on that later.

Indie Publishing News

We opened a new avenue to MARKETING for FREE to all Indie Authors and those who supported Indie Authors in February 2016.  This newsletter grew at such an astounding rate it is now MONTHLY ONLINE MAGAZINE which goes worldwide.  US, UK, CANADA, AUSTRALIA, NEW ZEALAND, INDIA, EUROPE – Time to do a survey. All a person needs to do for FREE Marketing is sign up to receive the Magazine and share it out, this helps spread the word on their work as well as anyone else who participates in the group.  We now run a SPOTLIGHT AUTHOR who gets the cover page as well as around 5 – 6 pages of information about them, their books, reviews etc.

Last month we introduced the Roving Reporter idea. This is for those who write or find interesting articles they wish to bring to attention of other Indie Authors and supporters.

As from January 2017 we will have a BACK PAGE ADVERT.  For next year this will be Advertising GOINDIENOW an wonderful company who supports Indie Authors with marketing and video discussion – plus much more.

Anyone who else who wishes to support the Magazine to keep it FREE is welcome to place on-going adverts (the same one each month or bi-monthly for a small fee.  This Magazine is not out to make money! It is there to help. However at 40 plus pages it takes time, so assistance is always welcome.

Ghostly Writes Anthology

FREE Anthology for those who wish to write a short story of up to 6K for Halloween.  Once again this was well received. We had 25 Authors participate, some publishing for the first time.  The Anthology was well recieved and is still downloading well on KINDLE – The eBook is FREE)  We are looking at writing a short Ghostly Romance Anthology for Valentines…However this has an entry FEE of $10 each.  The HALLOWS EVE ANTHOLOGY WILL ALWAYS BE FREE IN EBOOK FORMAT.

On going Training

As the Director of Plaisted Publishing House I have continued my Business Training with a Diploma in Small Business Enterprise – Level 5. I graduate in 2017.  I will continue to grow and learn to make my company one of the best, if not the best out there for Indie Authors. I love being a Small Press Publisher. The Lows

There have been a few lows, through seeing people in a positive light and them coming back to bite you due to living in a negative world and thinking they know what we should be doing as a company.  Even we are still learning the ins and outs, though there are many out there who know – WE KNOW OUR JOB. I’d like to thank those who have given us the love and support we have needed, mainly from friends and clients worldwide – we are proud to say we pulled through – taking the bull by the horns and growing stronger than ever before.

Hello and welcome.  As you may have noticed we have a magazine called Indie Publishing News.  This is a FREE Magazine for Indie Authors and small businesses who support them – Cover Designers, Editors etc.

It has been decided to open up this popular magzine to various submissions.  At this time you can submit an article for:

Short Stories – 500 words only

Blogs with interesting articles or advice for Authors.

You need to join the Indie Publishing News Group on Facebook and Sign up for the magazine if you are an Author or Small Business. To get approved you need to sign up HERE
