Tell us a bit about yourself.

I am part-time Master of Arts (Writing) student through Swinburne University, and also a Kindergarten Teacher. I am married and have two beautiful children.

What bought you to the world of writing?

Literature has always been a passion of mine. In my high school years, I use to spend my time writing a lot of poetry, but never thought of writing as a career. A few years ago, through life’s twists and turns, I had the opportunity to do book promotions for an author. I also wrote a foreword for one of his books. This experience led me into the wonderful world of writing and since then, I have written feature columns for a writer’s magazine, began a writing course at Uni and now about to publish my first book.

What is your first book and what do you think of it now?

My first book is the one that I am publishing at the moment. It’s called; In the Time of the Iron Fist: Part One. I also like to write children’s books, and I am in the middle of getting my first children’s book illustrated. I hope to publish many more books in the future

What type of books do you write and do they fulfill your reader’s needs?

The genre’s I like to write about are; Romance Suspense, Children’s, Poetry, History, Prayer Books, Biographies, I also like a bit of thriller.

ItTotIf - SmallWould you like to feature a book, if so which one?  Tell us about it?

The book is called, In the Time of the Iron Fist: Part One. It’s a short story about my husband’s experience of being captured and tortured during the Chilean dictatorship in the mid-80’s.

How long does it take you to write your first draft?

It all depends, in between teaching, studying, and family it can vary. If I have to meet a deadline, then I will push myself to get it done sooner, otherwise I work on it in my own time.

Do you plot or not, if so why?

Yes, I like to plot, it helps me structure my story.

Do you write in 1st or 3rd person, or have you do both?

Normally in the 1st person. I like to create character and write through the eyes of that character.

How do you edit your work?  Do you leave your draft alone for a while or edit as you write?

I edit both ways, however, most of the time I like to come back to it and edit.

What type of people/readers do you market your books to?

My books are generally aimed for the adult audience. This book I am publishing, hopes to reach out to people who have experienced similar things to my husband. However, the children’s book  I intend to publish, will target little girls from the ages of 3-5 year of age.

Do you self-publish or have you worked with an Agent/Published?

Currently working with Plaisted Publishing House Ltd, New Zealand.

How do you promote your writing?

A lot of it is done online, through Blogs, Facebook, twitter and Instagram.
