The beautiful #Awethor – Chess Desalls
Introducing the beautiful multi talented #Awethor Chess Desalls. Chess has been involved with the production of both Awethology’s with her editing and proofreading skills. Her Story is to be found in Awethology Light
I’m a YA author, wife, and flautist. I work and write outside of my creative writing projects. My work has led to academic and industry publications. I’m also a contributing editor for my local writing club’s monthly newsletter. The California Writers Club, South Bay branch, has awarded two of my stories first place for best short fiction.
What bought you to the world of writing?
I started writing fiction roughly six years go. A friend and I who love reading discovered that we also have the same interest in writing. We started having weekly writing chats over the phone to share our ideas and drafts of our work. That opened a new world of stories, and now my friend is on her way to completing her first novel.
What type of books do you write?
My novels are mainly about time travel and parallel worlds.
What story have you entered into the Awethology and Why?
“Queen of the Small Seas” is inspired by stories like “Thumbelina” and “Tom Thumb.” I love tales about tiny people doing big things in the world.
Tell us about your short story.
My story is a YA short that will be in Awethology Light. It’s about a baby from an enchanted island who gets stolen by pirates. Sixteen years later, she discovers that the ruffians who’d raised her hadn’t been the first to take her away from her family and the life she was meant to lead.
What was your experience with #Awethors group and the Awethology?
I discovered the #Awethors group after being involved in several online events for indie authors. It’s a warm and talented group of writers, and I’m honored that my story will be a part of the Awethology.
Where can we buy your books?
My books can be ordered through Amazon, Barnes & Noble, iTunes, and Audible. Readers are also invited to contact their local bookstores and libraries to place an order.
Who are your favourite authors?
My all-time favorites are Mark Twain, Peter S. Beagle, Roger Zelazny, and Madeleine L’Engle. I’ve also enjoyed books written by Bethany Griffin, Intisar Khanani, Lois Lowry, Rosamund Hodge, Christina McMullen, CK Dawn, and Laini Taylor.
