Paranormal #Awethor Lynne Murray

Let me introduce you to the lovely #Awethor who writes paranormal novels with hero’s and heroine’s.  Lynne’s short story can be found in Awethology Light. 

Tell us a bit about yourself.

My family travelled a lot while I was growing up due to my father’s work as a scientist employed by the military. My early life was in Illinois, Texas, Florida, Washington state, Alaska and Southern California. But driving across the Golden Gate Bridge when I was very young stuck in my mind. I came to San Francisco for college and have lived here ever since.

What bought you to the world of writing?

For as long as I remember, I have loved stories, Jokes, family legends, stories in the Sunday funny papers and books. My parents read to me and before I even knew how to read, I learned how to write my name so I could get a library card. Writing books was a natural development that took some decades to flower.

What story have you entered into the Awethology and Why?

The Falstaff Vampire Werewolves is told by Violet, who became a vampire in the book The Falstaff Vampire Files. I enjoy uncovering a paranormal world operating beneath the unsuspecting noses of the humans of San Francisco.

What type of books do you write and do they fulfill your reader’s needs?

I write about strong “life sized” heroines or heroes with attitude and an incorrigibly tilted view of life. There is a taboo in modern fiction, an unwritten but pervasive rule that no heroine or hero of a book may be larger than “thin,” “lean” or “muscular.” Only sidekicks, villains and comic relief characters can be fat or even “normal sized.” I firmly believe it is damaging to all readers’ world view for heroes to only exist in smaller sizes. I don’t mind petite protagonists, but let’s see some variety and diversity! I’m determined to write entertaining stories that bust right through the size taboo. I’ve had many touching emails and appreciative words at signings from readers who appreciate realistic heroines and heroes they can identify with.

Tell us about your short story?

On the first day of undeath, Violet joined Mrs. Battle’s class on Vampire Survival 101. In The Falstaff Vampire Werewolves, Violet accompanies the class on a hunting expedition to San Francisco international Airport after dark. They run into a werewolf on a desperate mission.

What was your experience with #Awethors group and the Awethology?

It’s fun and energizing to meet talented, determined authors from all over the world. Everyone in this group is generous in sharing information, strategies and powerful ideas. I feel I’ve made friends here as we work together to make all of our books more visible to readers.

How do you promote your writing?

Finding the audience for my work is a continual challenge. Aside from the social media links listed below and the free story in the Awethology Light anthology, I have another free story available, Valkyrie in the Demon Realm. It serves as a taste of the world of Sybil of the Planet Valkyrie, whom readers met in Gravitas: Valkyrie in the Demon Realm.

Who are your favourite authors?

I read on a broad range of topics including non-fiction. But paranormal fiction is calling my name. I seek out every book I can find by Patricia Briggs, Ilona Andrews and Holly Lisle.

Do you have any more information you’d like to share with us?

During readings of my books, I have heard people gasp at a particularly audacious sentence, wipe away tears when a character is suffering, and laugh out loud at the jokes—that last is my favorite sound (well it’s tied kitties purring). I am so happy to share my stories, my twisted thoughts, my visions and a piece of my heart.
