Storyteller, Film Maker and #Awethor Mr Joe Compton

Wow, what a guy.  We have a film maker among out awesome #Awethors.  Talk about talent!  The lovely Joe Compton also owns his own  Publishing Company.  The sort of talent we all need as Indie Authors, which is why The#Awethors group works so well.

Tell us a bit about yourself.

I was United States Marine for 4 years. I was born and raised in Torrance, CA but have lived in North Carolina, Okinawa Japan, Austin Texas, Denver Colorado, and currently in Northern California. I have been married for 5 years. It was my first novel that I started my publishing company with was actually accepted to be traditionally published back in 1999 but I walked away from the deal after it was apparent my story was being gutted and re-purposed for something I didn’t agree with. So I left writing and tried my luck in another world I love and made 3 short films during that time.

What bought you to the world of writing?

I have always been a storyteller. It was something I liked to do and had fun doing. So when I had to entertain my brother in the summertime’s where my mother would go back to work I would write a short story or script and act it out for my brother. I never stopped writing or performing.

What story have you entered into the Awethology and Why?

I wrote a contemporary, pseudo who done it entitled, “Up with the #Awethors.” I wanted to write a story that incorporated all the wonderful members of this group or at least a good portion of them and I did something I have never done, put me in the story.  Top me that’s what these short stories are all about, doing something you would never do or write otherwise. Also having fun with it, which I did.

What type of books do you write and do they fulfill your reader’s needs?

Well as far fulfilling needs, that’s a question for the audience. My first and second novels are Crime Thrillers but I have a few others up my sleeve.

What was your experience with #Awethors group and the Awethology?

Positive, this group is AWESOME!!!! Rebecca McCray is awesome, she is the only one I really worked with on the Awethology and she was so amazing. 

How do you promote your writing?

I have done book siginings. I am all over the Social networks.
